| I thought Dollhouse was really interesting. Controversial, to be sure, since it seems to be kind of an amped up sex trade industry thing... but at least they also branch out into things like saving kidnapped girls. Anyways, the pilot was good. We'll see where it goes. | |

| The basic idea is that they have girls (maybe some boys, I think I saw some milling around there) whose personalities they've 'erased'. They download these other personalities into this girls, allowing them to be whoever or whatever they need. The "dolls" (the subjects when they don't have a current download) are basically lobotomized functioning beings. They live lovely lives filled with yoga and massages and lovely music... I got the impression that the main purpose is so that people - men - could purchase the perfect week-end getaway... with the lovely female fling included.
But, since rich people can have whatever they want, they can also be purchased for other uses. This episode was about a man whose daughter was kidnapped and he hired them to help negotiate getting his daughter back without getting the police involved. They created the perfect personality for the occasion - an FBI trained negotiator who was kidnapped as a young girl. But I guess they actually use real people's memories (a compilation of different people's memories, actually), and one of the kidnappers was actually the guy who had kidnapped that particular girl when she was young. So, it got all messy there.
There was also some foreshadowing - Echo, the main girl, was having flashes of memories of the wrong things at the wrong times. When she was the negotiator she remembered something she saw when she was just Echo.

| Echo was Faith in Buffy. But yeah, that's part of the point. It's a crazy show and I'll watch it again, that's for sure. I really want to figure out what's going on. You should be able to find it on alluc.org if you're interested. | |

By the way, Dollhouse is also on Hulu if you can't see it on TV just yet.

| I'm becoming a fan of Dollhouse. If any of you that don't have it on television over where you are, you can watch it on fox.com which is the producing company for the show. They have all the episodes online so far for anyone. I think mostly to build fan base--but other networks do this too now...like NBC for Heroes and such. It's nice if you miss an episode.
I'm a big fan of Buffy. Never got into Angel, I didn't much like it. But Dollhouse is definitely a very cool, kind of creepy (if you think deeply about it and if you were a doll...) show that keeps you thinking...what will they turn Echo into next?

| I like Buffy. We have all of the seasons on DVD, but our DVD player was acting up when I started watching them and I still haven't finished season one. I'm going to dig them out one of these days, now that we have a new DVD player. I LOVE Firefly. One of my brothers is named Malachai, but we call him Captain Mal. | |

| Hey novel, I've never seen Malachai spelled that way before? i love that name though, i was planning on making a version of Malachy for one of my characters Looked up the name: says v. rare i wouldn't say its common in ireland but people are definitly called it because of Saint Malachy, sorry off topic there: in regards to doll house, thanks ladies for telling me where i can watch it - as soon as my evil course is over, i'm going to sit down watch it all straight | |
