PostSubject: the goblin turned up here too   Sat Feb 28, 2009 1:28 pm

"...boy, I am happy, I can just see myself being happy here too..." said the goblin who, over a coffee in his usual bistro session, always wrote in third person, a bad habit he knew though somewhat shared by most fiction books he remembered, but what of it he mused, sipped slowly and then continued "...and why not, I mean other people can be those serious presidious writers if they like, but that's not me, no, I just want to be a great anonymous poster here, something like that little toy that falls out onto your cereal bowl with those flakes at breakfast time, useless, inedible and yet reminding you of some happy moment in your past perhaps, yes that's me then...", and with that goblin smiled never quite knowing how the humans would react, and yet trusting them

and with that the goblin felt at home knowing that here, at least, the greatest minds in all humanity were just there to help him should he have any issues on this site and where not, there was always Novel-Goddess and emilycross to help him then, he felt somehow honored by such a distinction, saying "...thank you sweet ladies, I will not disappoint your non existent expectations of me..."

"...isn't it..." replied the goblin as a somewhat lethargic clock waited upon its passing seconds once more, somehow the cold morgue like kitchen at this point was the very center of the goblin's now silent universe again, well, for at least for that short duration before the others woke, where and when, no doubt, his family would just perform their ritual of "readying for work, school or whatever" in earnest around him, perhaps even at times dragging him too into their plots with various requests and questions, until they too, ready, would simply part leaving the goblin once more typing to a now half drunk coffee and his jumble of unconnected fleeting thoughts, "...should I tell them then..." asked the goblin to himself here, continuing "...confess, when they want more, that this is in fact all that there is of me, the sum total of my mundane existence as yet another nobody stuck between his little "dailylife" and the bidding of that Moneygod..." and yet the goblin had always been caught like this, caught that is between that promise to his wife of some unequivocal anonymity on the one hand, and that other promise to his muse that he would indeed make that "journey to self" by posting across this ether of the Internet on the other, "...my mask will be real then..." voiced the goblin in the morning light

And the ladies and gentlemen from the site bade the goblin welcome and promised him that his "journey to self" would be pleasant and trouble-free on this website

Hi, I wanted to welcome you to the boards. I didn't quite get your introduction, so I'm not sure what you hope to get from here. Are you working on anything or hoping to write sometime soon? I take it your projects would be 3rd person, but I could be wrong. If you have any questions feel free to ask me or any of the other mods!

and with that the goblin returned to the bistro, glanced through those warmly warm welcomes here, and then dived into his morning posting session somehow knowing that by nightfall, the goblin would have hardly progressed across the umpteen sites now demanding his replies at this point, this was after all "live writing", a different fish from those books and that publishing world but no less important the goblin knew, "...humans, in your world you are authors, in mine one is a poster/persona, you publish, I post, your goal "critical acclaim", "recognition", even a "fortune" perhaps...", the goblin paused, reaching for his coffee and for the next bit continuing "...so what does that equate to in my world dear humans, this world that you're reading this post on that is, how does one go about being an unmistakable poster/persona on the Internet, for surely having seen recurring loss of market share, you can see that to reach a wider audience than that declining bookworld, one must be open to new ideas and adapt to them here...", coffee drunk, the goblin promised to return as always for the goblin was, after all, only too aware that he was here as much to learn as he was to help, "...I suppose being anonymous, that would make me a ghost writer in your world then..." mused the goblin before called away again

I agree about the publishing world disappearing and not making a 'fortune' anymore and with such creations as the kindle, a new era of the virtual book is coming.....

I wonder why then you don't investigate the path of e-publishing or podcasting? or dare i say blogging?

late evening, the goblin showed up again not having expected a reply so soon but still delighted to have received in the last hour of his day as he tried for just one last post before his bedtime, saying "...personally I prefer a "last post" thread...", he broke off a moment, the next bit seemed somehow too big to fit neatly, though his aim, of creating an Internet self against his old age, had much in common he knew, with the younger people here wishing to be writers, he continued "...well, in that "a blog" is simply one central character with others looking on is it not, much like some actor on a stage, or a teacher in a class, it lacks that real inter reaction vibe that a thread has, with its round-table like settings, it unexpectedness, it's sense of community, simply on a thread, perhaps here for example, you and I are equal as both reader/poster together are we not...", and with that the sandman indicated time without actually saying a word, and the goblin would return he promised

Agreed and is the reason i created this forum - so this is an exercise in immortality through being remembered across the forum-sphere?

This reminds me of a scene from Amelie (french movie) - A subplot of the main movie, was the one of the main characters used to collect disgarded I.D. photos from photobooths in a photo album. Amelie found the photoalbum and from there the entire story develops.

in regards to the subplot, there is a picture of a man who is repeatedly in the album from numerous different stations across Paris, with perfect ID pictures. Who was he?

In her mind, he was a man afraid of dying, growing old and seeking immortality by trying to capture his image repeatedly.

The Truth: he was the photo booth repairman

back again, the bistro had been a battle between a man, who wanted to smoke, and the owner's wife, "...you see, there are no "no smoking" rules in Geneva, it's just up to bistro owner..." mentioned the goblin, who had clapped and then had gone "yay yay yay" with his arms in support of her, before returning to his own thoughts in the now near empty morning bistro, where reading through the reply notifications, the goblin had just followed the one that lend him here again, "...ah yes, that French film "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain", it's funny how an unguessable adventure will pull the onlooker onwards towards its conclusion, it's as if the onlooker somehow knows that the plot must lead somewhere or why then would the storyteller be telling it then...", the sky outside was some off white bright gray that just needed a bit longer to clear the goblin felt, that was before the goblin also noticed that the man had by now walked out, probably to the bistro next door, so the goblin simply repeated to himself something "...in the end the bistro owner's wife can only do what she feels is right for her bistro, for she can't please everyone..."
