itsa kori!

Hello, one and all! Author hopeful Kori here, bringing you live news from... my extraordinarily boring life. Luckily, I've made an internet presence of myself that's ... probably annoying to some people, but I enjoy it. I consider everyone a friend until they prove otherwise, so don't be surprised if I start talking to you out of the blue like we've been best friends since kindergarten, even if we've never spoken before.

A little bit about me. I was introduced to this site via Jenna (who's currently offline, and I haven't the foggiest what her username is here) and I'm really excited, as it's my first attempt at reaching into the underworld of writers (who aren't fanfiction authors.) My general internet name is koritsimou, and I use it prolifically, so chances are if you're on another site, and you see a koritsimou, it's me. Most people can't even spell that, much less pronounce it, so I've shortened to Kori, and it's gotten so bad that I occasionally refer to myself as Kori in real life as well. Author in Progress was spawned from my blog, as it sums me up perfectly. I have far-reaching dreams of writing a best-selling fantasy trilogy, the first of which is named Eversong (and as all my creative energies are going into the novel itself, I couldn't think of anything more creative to call it as a whole than 'the Eversong Trilogy' - but all the cool trilogies have titles, as well as a broad name - think Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and The Fionavar Tapestry: The Summer Tree, and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and so on and so forth.)

I also have a tendency to blether. Most of it's useless, and just happens to be whatever's passing through my brain at any given moment (which, considering my brain, is not an altogether normal experience.) Most people learn to like it or just live with it. I failed horribly an NaNoWriMo last year (2k words out of 50k. It was a spectacular failure) but I intend to have at least the first draft of Eversong written by December 31st of this year. My current word-count is 1400, and growing. I've done a little bit of searching into the Professional Life of a Professional Writer, and have a vague understanding of all the things I'm going to need, and do, but before I get into more detail on that and start boring people before I've even enticed you to ignore your first instincts to flee, I'm going to poke around in the forums a bit, and see what's interesting.

A mild warning: that 'tendency to blether' translates into I stick my nose into everything. It's won me some fantastic friends on other forums, though, and I refuse to change it. I'm extraordinarily happy to be here, and I look forward to meet you all!
