Hey!

Several of you will know me as dragon-girl, from various other forums. My name here came about when I was trying to find a more unique user name, something I could use everywhere. It's from one of my favourite books - 'The Name of the Wind'. Several times during the book, they refer to a play called 'The Daeonica', and I just love the way it sounds.

I'm from Scotland, and in my last year of high school. I love to read, although recently I've cut down on that to save money for my gap year, and to make more time to actually pass some exams.

My current MS is about a girl who works in an... interesting... bookshop, with vampires, werewolves, and a couple of other problems thrown in. I'll write a better blurb later.

Oh i love the new name Daeonica - especially 'ae' part (i'm in the process of reading that book - its amazing!!)

Your MS sounds really interesting, what sort of fastasy genre is it? like funny with serious moments, serious with funny moments or very serious suspense sort of drama? (i should not be allowed to right Laughing

)

What are you planning for your gap year? i'm the same about the books except i'm trying to get through university at the moment with no money Laughing

I found my fairly good blurb that I did for my nano page:

My story is urban fantasy/paranormal romance.
It features the characters from last years nano, in what's going to be book one in a series. (Last years is now the prequel, where I got to know that characters.)

Sally works in a bookshop full of cool magical things going on. Now there's a ghost hanging around, and she wants to find out where it's from, because, well, wouldn't you? Her ex-for-the-moment boyfriend is the one who introduced her to vampires in the first place, namely because he is one. She split up with him to avoid being drawn deeper into the vampire world, but he doesn't really want to give her up without a fight. So, how long can she really say no to a sexy vampire for?

aw that blurb is great Dae - it sounds so interesting and romantic (gushes like an idiot) what are characters names?

Sally - the MC
Matt - the vampire she was going out with
Thomas & Joshua - Matt's best friends
Helena - Sally's friend from the bookshop, who knows about everything
Janie - Sally's college friend, who doesn't know about the vampires, etc.

Those are the main ones.

And to answer some of your earlier questions, it's urban fantasy/paranormal romance. ( I get a bit confused about what the difference is.) It's fairly serious, but there are funny bits too. I'm inspired by people like Keri Arthur, Patricia Briggs, Kim Harrison, etc, so if you've read any of them, the humour is kind of like that. The vampires get a bit cocky sometimes, and come out with some interesting lines.
