So is the "M" just there or does it actually stand for anything? Back when I was using a pen name, I used "S" as my middle initial because it's the first letter of my nana's name.

I really like the name "Penelope Paige" but it's kind of weird in the way I came about it.

I was joking with my brother about pen names and doing really corny things (like "Paige Penn." If you don't get it, it's like "paper--page" and "penn-pen.") and I was fooling around. Then I was like "Penelope Paige!" because it still had Paige in it. After saying it a few times, I actually really liked the way it sounded. ._. No one would thing it's corny because of the "Paige" thing, right? I don't know how obvious (or not obvious) it is because I'm the one who was just fooling around with it. Does anyone else think it'd be stupid? D:

D8 Oh, I never thought of that. *googles*

There's a band with that name, but they don't seem very popular at all. They have like, two friends on their band page. And there's an actual person, but no actually famous person. Does that mean it's okay?

You should also run it through howmanyofme.com to see how common it is. That's what I do.

See, I have a problem. There's a published author with the name Jennifer B. White, which is my real name. I don't particularly want to use a pseudonym, and even if I drop the B. I think people might still get confused. I was thinking of using my nickname, since I actually use that one more often, but I suppose I'll wait until the publication stage to see what they say then.

Man, I hate it when people steal our names! Or, well, not steal, but you know what I mean.

I was considering J.B. White for a while -- I once wrote a story and distributed it amongst my friends, and I used that name on it -- but I'm not sure if I like the initials thing. I'll just keep it as Jennifer White on my website for now, and see where things go.

I almost decided to do a pen name. But I sort of want people who knew me to read my book. The idea of say an old English Teacher seeing it and remembering me, then reading it thrilled me. I had always gotten compliments from my teachers.

However, I don't know if I'd want to be recognized outside of my friends. Fandom can be very scary at times. So maybe I will decide on one. Currently I'm just using my maiden name.

Emily you should find one of those for the UK. :p That's cool that it's only 99, but if someone has already published something under that name... Hrm. My real name only has 23! Very Happy

Jennifer White: 3,983
Jenna White: 128
Jennifer DeLuca: 66
Jenna DeLuca: 2

Well. If I want to use my real last name (White), I'm using my nickname. FYI, DeLuca is my stepdad's last name.

^ Nah, I really don't think it would, if it's publishamerica.

So...question. A lot of you use pennames. Why? Is it just because you don't want your real name out there, or do you hate your real name, or do you just think it doesn't sound "author-y" enough?
