Hi everyone. I just joined up yesterday. So far unpublished, but have three books in the works.

One is for a genealogy society, and two are novels. One may actually be a novella. Won't know for sure until itls done. One of the novels is an historical fiction, the other is fiction.

Looking forward to reading posts and seeing what everyone is up to.

Hi:

The site basically found me. Emily Cross posted a comment at my blog (http://nancispublications.blogspot.com) inviting me to check out the site.

Started writing last year. It's always been in the back of my mind, but never made it out. I took a creative writing course last year in the evenings at a local high school. The instructor is a writer. The main reason I took the course is because I'm supposed to be writing a book for my local genealogical society. Thought it might help me outline and propertly put the book together. Instead, it got me writing a story I've wanted to start for a few years. The genealogy book is on Cemeteries and Burial Sites locally. Haven't done too much on that. A lot of it will come from current publications, but I still need to do research.

The book I've started came from an article I found doing genealogy research. Came across a newspaper story about a boy (with my dad's name) who was sentanced to hang at the ripe old age of 16. I found out that the boy, William, was in an english workhouse when he was only 5. Seems his mother died when he was 10 days old. By the time he reached 13, he had been sent to Canada to live on a farm. Three years later he picked up the rifle and blew the face off the housekeeper. Using facts and real names in the book, with a lot of stuff made up to fill in the other several hundred pages. The story starts at William's birth in 1875, and goes trhough to 1891.

The novel/novella I mentioned is about a young man, Joe, who is called to his father's house out of the blue. He left home after high school and never went back. Finds his father is deathly ill. He mentions to Joe about the family home at Britany Lake, and tells him to sell it and never go there. Joe and his wife Sara naturally go check out the house for the weekend. Joe discovers a secret his father has been keeping for forty years. He uses his wife's genealogy interest to find out the truth.

I see a genealogy theme beginning . . . . jocolor

I've also done a workshop with the same instructor/writer which went for a couple of months. It was a small group consisting of a few of us from her writing class, and the rest from her memoir class. All but two of us have formed a writers group. We have been meeting every two weeks, but are cutting it to once a month for the summer.

I'm currently taking genealogy courses and will have the program finished by the end of the year, fingers crossed.

Thanks ReNu. I hope the publishers feel that way. Britany Lake will probably be an ebook, but I would like William to be traditional publishing. Have had trouble with a title, but yesterday I came up with Murder at Woodlands. Got that from one of the newspaper artricles.

Hi Akurei. It's lovely up here at the moment. Below 80, which is my preference. Was extremenly hot and humid a week ago, but we've had rain and t'storms to blow it away.

Now, what is creative XD? That's a new one on me. Question
