PostSubject: Lady Glamis has Entered   Sun Feb 08, 2009 7:26 am

Good morning, all. This looks like a fun place to hang out if you're a writer. I'll try to visit as often as I can, although I belong to another online writer's group that takes much of my time, as well as following and keeping up with many blogs. Oh, and let's not forget the actual writing part... that takes up even more time.

I write mainstream fiction with literary layers and undertones. Don't ask me what genre that all fits under because I have no idea. I am currently preparing a partial for an agent, and am crossing my fingers that he'll request a full. Not betting on it though, but I can hope!

If you really want to get to know me, check out my writing blog at: The Innocent Flower

Nice to be here! *waves to all*

Hey there!

Welcome to the forums!

I hope you have fun contributing to the threads, and find a little time to share some of your experiences with us.

Do you want to tell us a little bit about your MS?

~daeonica

PostSubject: Re: Lady Glamis has Entered   Sun Feb 08, 2009 7:43 am

Thanks Novel and daeonica.

My MS is titled "Monarch"

I don't write fantasy. I don't write paranormal. I don't write sci-fi. And I don't write YA. I just write plain old normal fiction... I guess some would call it contemporary, although I don't think it truly falls into that category.

Monarch is about a CIA officer, Nicholas Avery, who was double-crossed and is now pinned for a murder he didn't commit. He's in love with a divorced woman who runs an inn in the West Virgina mountains. In his travels between Brazil and West Virgina, Nick discovers what it truly means to trust himself in order to save his own life and those that he loves. There's butterflies and explosions, and if you want to know how they connect, you'll have to read it. Surprised

An agent has requested a partial, which I'm currently getting ready to send in. This novel was my NaNo novel, so it's not as polished as I'd like. I'm trying to get it in tip-top shape in case the agent asks for a full.

I have one other completed novel that I will begin querying later this year. I only work on one WIP at a time, and I'm really slow.

When I have time, I'll read through your introductions to learn more about you. Glad I could join!

Good luck with that requested partial!

I think it might be good for us, where a lot of our group seem to be writing fantasy in some way shape or form, to have a non-fantasy writer in our midst. It broadens the outlook a bit, because there are lots of different issues involved in different genres.

As far as I am aware, I am the only writer I converse with that writes something not fantasy, paranormal, or sci-fi. I'm really the odd one out on this, because all those other genres are really popular right now. I don't know how to write anything else. I have nothing against the other genres... they're just not my fave. The other writers in my group have some amazing stuff! But, still, I'm off in my own corner, I guess. Wink

Lady Glamis, Welcome to the board! Thanks for joining.

Well sci/fantasy may be popular now but fiction always is - no matter what trend is hot Wink just look at the bestseller list.

Your MS sounds brilliant and i hope everything goes well with the partial, i'll be crossing my fingers!

BTW your blog is amazing, i love reading about your experiences! Very Happy

How exciting! Welcome to the board! I'm so jealous - limiting yourself to one WIP at a time? That would make my life easier. Nooo, I have five, and a sixth one rustling around in my head irritably. I hope you enjoy your stay around the board, and find some useful tips and share some advice, regardless of what genre we all write. Smile

Ren--

Yeah... not sure why I can only do one WIP at a time. I did post about it on my blog awhile ago: WIP post and still haven't figured it out. It's nice though, but restricting.

I will pop in here when I can. You all look like so much fun!

Emily, thanks for your note. I'm crossing my fingers, too. Glad you like my blog. I'll head over to look at yours sometime today.

Bluepolarbear - I'll keep everyone posted on the process if things go well.
