Ok just got this email:

Publishers seeking submissions - yes there are some out there!

New UK Literary Fiction Publisher The Thorn Press are a new Independent publishers which hope to publish literary fiction which mainstream publishers might not find commercially viable. They are looking for books strong on style, psychological insights and character rather than genre fiction - they want writing that will last. They warn that they might take several months to reply to submissions as they have a small team. To submit a proposal, send an email with attachemnt containing a double spaced one page synopsis and your first 3 ch, Times New Roman 12points.
Check out www.thethornpress.com
enquiries@thethornpress.com

They want to see the first 10k words and suggest you submit only when you've written at least three quarters of a 70-80k book. Include a 1000-1500 word synopsis with a covering letter highlighting previous writing experience/specialist knowledge/anything about you that might spark media interest.

Mills and Boon/ Harlequin is now running a teen/Young Adult line. The Teen market is now hugely successful and lucrative, and all publishers are hungry for the next Harry Potter.

If you think you can write teen romance, check out http://www.eharlequin.com/articlepage.html?articleId=1403&chapter=0 - I think you'd need to read the guidelines carefully.

*cough* they're not asking for much, just you know to have

Haha, yeah, that's definitely not asking for much. The author could call it The Princess' Thirteen Reasons Why Twilight is Ugly and Book Thieves are Hungry.

Furore as agents Twitter rejection - query fail

Quote :
A group of literary agents in the US has set up a Twitter feed sharing the worst opening lines from author submissions. . . .

According to the Guardian, rejected opening lines included: "My book is differentiated from Twilight because the vampires have wings, and are half-breed angels" and "My book is about a friendship based upon mutual vomiting practices in high school".

The initiative to stop such ^ queries has been hit with backlash from hurt authors

Quote :
A recent tweet from Lindsay stated: "Am disturbed by the people who tracked down my personal email (not work) and are spamming me with #queryfail hate mail & threats."

Another independent press in uk is accepting short stories focused on YA with a supernatural theme for an anthology

http://www.rebelbookspublishing.co.uk/

Definitely considering this myself if they're legit - would be a good way to get exposure. One anthology will focus on supernatural (vampires etc. ) and the other fairies!
