| Hello All, Emily invited me to join the Writer's Chronicle, so here I am! I am happy to meet all of you. I am currently working to publish my novel La Fleur, set in late 19th century, early 20th century New Orleans. La Fleur chronicles the life of Lela Chevalier. Spirits in High Places battle for control of Lela and the Chevalier family, blessing while devastating their lives. The Adversary knows that if he does not destroy Lela and her progeny, her Seed will rise up in the end to destroy him. The Caretaker of the House of Chevalier sees this as well, as he continues to watch over her. Lela’s epic journey takes her from the tormented life of a slave on her father’s Louisiana plantation to the Eden of her heart’s desire in Paris, living in ecstasy with her husband James. When her husband and daughter are murdered, Lela teeters on the brink of insanity and suicide. God protects her, bringing her back stronger and wiser. Blackmailed into a life of prostitution, Lela overcomes and prospers, becoming the wealthiest and most powerful Madame in New Orleans. Lela adopts a young girl named Josephine, saving the child from certain death. Young Josephine becomes Lela’s 'little David,' rising up to destroy her 'Goliath,' freeing Lela from his bondage and regaining her fortune, held captive in France.
