PM's? - RESOLVED

So, I got notified in my email that I got a new PM on this forum--yet, when I came on, there were no new PM's. I was wondering if that was a glitch or anything.

Ren: Thank you for bringing this to our attention! I would have never realized that not everyone was getting the birthday banners if you hadn't!

Resolution, in short: If you send a PM to someone, and then delete it from your outbox (which fills up just like your inbox) that PM will be deleted from the recipient's inbox, as well.

I caused this problem, and see below for a more detailed explanation. Sorry, guys.

One thing I've noticed - I don't know about the PM notifications, but if I have two PMs and go into my inbox, as soon as I go into my inbox, whether I read one or not, it stops telling me I have new PMs. So I could read one and leave one unread, and the site would say No New PMs.

Now, this might be unrelated, but when you get a notification email, are you going all the way into your inbox to see if you have an unread PM? Or is the board just glitching out and saying "No New Messages" on the main page?

Or is it that the popup notification isn't working?

Lastly - was it the mass PM I send out about birthdays? It might have something to do with it if I send it to a large number of people... I don't know. I'm just trying to get a bit more information on what is wrong. :/ Sorry it's being so weird, guys.

I actually went into my PMs to see and there was nothing but your last birthday message, which I had received a seperate e-mail for the week or so before.

Might be a glitch of some sort.

I wondered if it was one of the birthday e-mails - people had birthday banners the other day, and I hadn't heard anything about it.

Dae - i didn't get a birthday banner pm either. I was wondering if it was just the mods, but novel had the banner too.

In regards to pms - i think once you click into your inbox it automatically goes to 'no new messages' on the main page.

also about the notifications - its either a] a glitch or b] delayed email (this has happened to me a few times)

If this persists let me know and i'll ask the forum people

Kay, just got another email saying I had a PM and there is nothing in my inbox at all.

I have no clue what is going on. I'll check it again later to see if it delayed...but I don't think it is.

I figured it out.

I mass PM everyone the birthday banner, but there are too many to send at once, and I have to clear my outbox halfway through before sending to the rest.

WHEN YOU DELETE A PM FROM YOUR OUTBOX, IT DELETES IT FROM THE RECIPIENT'S INBOX.

So it's totally my fault, and I'm going to have to start emailing y'all the birthday stuff. But that's what it is.

I believe that's how it works on the Lex, too. I wondered if it was that.
