Ooh, ooh, a paranormal romance person! Finally! *does happy dance* - this is what my stories are. Glad to have someone else on the forum who writes them.
I'll have a look at your website, too.

Why not tell us a bit more about how you got published, or what your current WIP is about (if you can discuss that...). I know we'd love to hear any stories about your road to publishing. Very Happy

Well, let's see...I heard that Samhain Publishing was taking submissions (they had been closed to submissions for a while) so I sat down and started writing a novella (in 2008) I wrote three chapters in two days, and thinking it would take them time to get back to me, I sent the chapters off. I hadn't finished it at all. Well, an editor emailed me back THAT DAY and asked me to send her the rest.

Um...can you say panicked? lol!

I wrote the rest in four days and sent it off. She got back to me and gave me a revise and resubmit - saying the story seemed rushed. Teehee (Cause it was). By that time I was in the middle of Asmodeus, so I finished that, sent it to her, and then went back to editing my novella. Within a week I had finished it, sent it to her, and got a contract on both the novella and Asmodeus. The novella is Azazel, and all the info is on my website.

When my books came out I got so excited about the promo and networking, that I didn't write for 3 months. When I did, I wrote absolute crap. That was a few months ago, and now I'm back on track. In the past 4 months I've completed another novella and I'm finished with the first draft of a novel-length. This one is going to NY...we'll see what happens with that. Smile

My new WIP is about demons and angels...which seems to be pretty hot right now. I'm nervous as all get-out because the market is saturated with paranormal, and I've received rejections that said, "Love your writing, but...The plot is great, but..." It takes a lot to get into the paranormal romance market right now...but that's where my stubborness is going to do me well. I don't quit. If this book isn't picked up I'll write another...and another...and another. LOL Smile

WELCOME! Yeah, I can understand how the paranormal romance market is right now. I hope I'm as stubborn as you when I finish up some of my stories that are in your genre actually and be persistent enough to keep going.

Thanks for the welcome. Smile If you love writing, you'll keep going. It is really hard to get into NY right now, but I think those with enough determination and drive will succeed. Some of it is talent, some of it is determination, and a lot of it is luck. One editor might love your ms, while the next will pass.

I know of a NY author who got a rejection that said her writing was so bad that she'd never get a contract. That same day she got a call from Dorchester...with an offer.

That was pretty harsh thing to say to an author about their writing!

NY seems to be where its at for publising - is it the hub for paranormal romance? I write fantasy fiction so i probably will have to contact US agents due to the lack of them who specialise in that area here!

Long way from that stage yet though, best of luck to you though!!

and you meet JRWARD too (don't tell missjulie - she'll die with jealousy!!)

you should check out our 'grownup books thread'

Thanks again. Smile

Yeah, JR Ward was cool. But I think you can tell that by her brotherhood books. lol What's funny is I didn't know who she was when I took the pic with her, but when I got home from the conference I looked her up and bought her books. I instantly fell in love with Z. Smile

Late on the welcome too, but glad to have you! Your story of getting published is amazing and I wish we could all be so lucky. Can't wait to read more.

Also, it's nice to have another True Blood/Sookie fan on board! Have you read the books? They're great.
