Reputation Points

This has recently been added to the board, essentially if you see something/message you particularly like you can click on 'reputation points' under persons avatar and info and add points and leave a comment why you liked that particular post.

I noticed the +/- signs this morning, Emily, and was wondering what they were. I think it's a good idea - they have them on another site I used to go on a lot, and it was quite fun, and a way of crediting the people who gave well-thought-out answers.

Also, I love the new buttons at the top! It looks very cheerful.

So, basically we comment on their comments? Is it like a reporting kind of thing, if someone says something offensive, or the kind of thing that someone helps you out and you give them a point to say thanks?

On the site I was on where they used them, it was kind of if you wanted to say 'I totally agree!' or 'Great point!' - you wouldn't want to make a whole post on that, and often people could be reading the posts when conversation had moved on.
I don't think we really used the negative thing much, but it maybe went to flame/troll posts.

That sounds like a good idea.

I had them on my old site that i had made, {Before i tore it down} and people really liked it a lot

Though on my site it was also used in the negative field on certain things, like for example if you did just write "I totally agree!" or something, a moderator or i would put a negative and give a warning not to misuse the forum space for that when we have the comment boxes.

it worked out very well.

Er...where are the +/- signs?

ReNu - right on the right of every post you'll see them under the "quote" -edit- X ? buttons

I'm surprised to see no one has used them yet, they seem like there be a big hit though!

ReNu- Don't feel bad about not seeing it, they don't pop out like other buttons do. If i hadn't of had my own site that had those, i wouldn't have noticed them either.

When i made my site, i went frantic because i couldn't find them on the page >///< i felt so stupid when i found them v.v

But there's no reason to, because a lot of people don't notice them ^^

I think its to thank for getting 'reputation points'?? not really sure how that works meself though lol

^^ it's all a learning experience for everyone! woo that means non of us are net-illiterate because each of us is net-literate to a point then someone else picks up where your brain stops heh ^^

xD Well if you want, i can help with that. I know most {not all, hell the person that created forumotion probably doesn't know everything going on with the stuff they offer} about websites and stuff because I've made and destroyed a few.

If you want i could help out with the site ^^ but if not I'll just join the net-illiterate club! XD

It's on the right hand side of each persons post, Moon, just below the '?' symbol. I don't know about this site (not having been given any yet ) but on the other site I was on, you were e-mailed if you got points.
It also shows up under your screen name, with the other bits & pieces there.

I don't believe there is an email sent....or at least i dont' think i got one

How come moonlight, Emily and daeonica have a green...vertical thingy between their + and - signs? Does it mean their reputations are green with envy?

I have a theory...did you give them the points? if so i believe you see that when you see the person/post that you gave a point to.
