Help with establishing links Empty
PostSubject: Help with establishing links   Help with establishing links EmptySun Nov 22, 2009 12:12 pm

I posted for the first time today, but was unable to make a link to my blog. It went to some strange page on blogger! What does the section called "label" mean. My blog is at http://writingisablessing.blogspot.com
If anyone could help it would be appreciated!

Thanks,
June

Hi June

I've moved this over to the help section.

The address in your first post seems just fine, it just wasn't a real link because you didn't have http:// in front of it. What you've done in this post works fine.
If you want to make a link without showing the whole address, then you can use the tags. You want to type:
[url =http:// example url] My Blog (or whatever you want the link words to be) [/ url]
So, you use the square brackets. But you have to take out the spaces I put in - one between 'url' & '=', and the other between the '/' & 'url'
Does that help?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the section called 'label' ". Perhaps if you tell me where you are finding it, I can help?

Its also a really good idea to stick a link in your signature as well, so people can click on it! The blog address in this thread works grand - i'm adding you now Smile

Emily,
How do I add links to my signature? And how do I make links like you did at the bottom of your reply ie: My blog/ My Website/ Book Bundle Blog etc.
Thanks so much for your help. I'm trying to become more technologically proficient! confused

June your fine.

Ok you go to 'profile' - go to 'preferences' tab and make sure 'always allow html' is clicked yes and 'attach signature' is yes - save

then click on signature tab

now just remove & to get it to work in your signature - i'm using & so you can see what i'm at.

now for an image signature - you have to have something like an online link or photobucket account.

so for e.g. for a signature i might want to use is this image

Help with establishing links BabyEvan

the code would be this [&img]https://2img.net/h/i153.photobucket.com/albums/s221/epona_2007/BabyEvan.jpg[/&img] - this will give you the 'image'

now if you want to link this image - which means that if i clicked the banner it will take me to your website/blog this is the code i would use:

[url&=www.xxx.com][&img]https://2img.net/h/i153.photobucket.com/albums/s221/epona_2007/BabyEvan.jpg[/&img][/&url]

Now for what i've done its even simpler!

to make text a link this is the code [&url=www.xxx.com]My blog[/&url] then you can add a / in between and then have another [&url=www.xxx.com]My blog[/&url]

I hope thats ok? if you have any more problems pm me - i might just do an instructions thing in intro? might be helpful.
