| I think I earned some serious respect points from my piano teacher today.
See, we had to play our piece from last week again, but this time from memory. Well, I'm still only at the halfway point (this is a hard piece, and I don't like it -- it doesn't sound very pretty). Several people didn't play today, deciding that because they didn't know the whole thing they couldn't even play what they knew. I didn't do that. I didn't whine that I wasn't prepared or make jokes about how I was going to play half or whatnot. I got up on that stage, smiled, introduced myself and stated the title and composer of my piece, and then played what I could. When I finished, my teacher was smiling -- and this is a woman who seriously never smiles -- and actually clapping. She wasn't making notes on her clipboard. She wasn't frowning. She was actually smiling.
I think I earned some serious respect points for actually going up there, knowing full well that I couldn't get through the whole thing, and played anyway without losing it.
So...go me. | |

| Yay Novel, that's so exciting about earning respect from your piano teacher! I got a letter from my husband!! I had a really long day at work yesterday (It ended at 9) and when I came home I grudgingly checked the mail and Joe's letter fell out! It was the only piece of mail in there! He doesn't know his real address yet, but will let me know in the next letter! The perfect end to a loooong day. | |

| Sorry for the double post, I figure it's been long enough now though. My yay is that I had a birthday party on Saturday, and it was great fun! Had a good time playing 'children's' party games - who cares how old we are! Also, birthday tomorrow. Which is good. | |

| Yay! I had another fire dancing lesson and I totally spun fire this time! It was SO exciting! Like fire. Fire! Oh my god it was so empowering!! I've lit up once before, but I just kinda held the spinning things, listening to the fire and stuff. This time I actually spun them around and moved with them, very, very basic tricks. But it's like... only half-jokingly, I call it dating fire. Small steps, getting to know each other. :p So psyched about it.
And I have a store now (haha) - http://www.renfeathers.etsy.com stretchy elastic bracelets, necklaces, earrings and stuff.
